Project Engineer - Rotating Equipment & Gas Turbines

About the role

Sulzer is looking for a Project Engineer to join its Kizad facility in Abu Dhabi and support the delivery of rotating equipment and gas turbine service projects. The engineer manages repair and overhaul projects so they are delivered safely, on time and within budget, working closely with customers, suppliers and internal teams. The role is also the sole point of contact for customer communication and commercial matters after handover.

Key responsibilities

• Manage repair and overhaul projects and ensure commercial coverage (purchase orders and contracts) is in place for ongoing works
• Develop, update and monitor project plans, compile quotations for minor repairs, overhauls and additional works, and prepare progress and technical reports
• Keep the ERP system up to date, translate contractual requirements into technical instructions and agree scope changes with the customer
• Monitor project costs, report expected overruns, instruct finance to invoice on completion, and conduct customer site visits and scheduled KPI reviews
• Facilitate technical support, host customers and provide corporate entertainment, and lead customer complaint NCRs with root cause analysis and corrective actions
• Support company standard documentation and work with the commercial and sales teams

Required profile

• Minimum of 5 years' experience in the rotating equipment MRO industry
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a recognised technical apprenticeship (desirable)
• Formal project management certification such as PMP, APM or equivalent (desirable)
• Excellent written and verbal English, strong organisation and planning skills, and ability to work independently and away from home when required

Required skills

• Working knowledge of industrial gas turbines, power turbines and associated equipment
• Technical knowledge of Rolls-Royce gas turbine equipment
• Practical experience in gas turbine site environments, onshore and offshore
• Ability to read engineering drawings and technical documentation
