Project Planner

About the role

Al Tayer Stocks is looking for a Project Planner to prepare turnkey project work programmes according to the guidelines given by the Project Manager or Estimation Manager, and to monitor project progress against the plan so that work finishes within the specified timeframe.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare work programmes specifying the time needed for each construction step, such as material procurement, mobilisation, installation and manpower requirements.
• Prepare the master project schedule and plans during tender and programme them for the Construction Manager, the project execution team and clients (where required) for review and approval.
• Monitor each process of the project with the Construction Manager or planning engineer, and prepare reports on progress and causes of programme variations.
• Attend monthly project review meetings with the consultant or project management representative, submit reports to management and review monthly progress reports for all projects after site visits.
• Prepare project progress reports for management, investigating delays and suggesting corrective actions.
• Coordinate with the Design and Procurement departments to manage timely submissions and material lead times, and track long-lead materials from the ATS purchase department and subcontractors.
• Provide monthly progress updates to the respective QS to help prepare monthly progress and variation invoices.
• Prepare critical path analysis and impact programmes for assessing extension of time claims.
• Prepare labour monitoring reports for turnkey and joinery departments, comparing budget versus actual costs and reporting deviations.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 4 years of planning experience in fit-out or joinery; good knowledge of construction processes and construction business gained through formal training or 2-4 years of experience, with fit-out experience preferred.
• Good attention to detail and concern for time.

Required skills

• Good working knowledge of Primavera or MS Project (essential).
• Knowledge of construction processes.
