Protection & Control Field Engineer

About the role

The Protection & Control Field Engineer is responsible for end‑to‑end site execution of protection, conventional control and monitoring & diagnostics projects in high‑voltage substations, ensuring safe, profitable delivery in line with contractual and GE Vernova quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Handle on‑site installation, testing and commissioning of protection relays, busbar protection, conventional control systems, SCMS and LCC equipment.
• Perform CT/VT adequacy checks, relay setting verification, IEC‑61850 signal mapping and cybersecurity implementation.
• Plan and direct resources, manage project workloads to maintain high billable ratios and stay within budget.
• Prepare field service reports, maintain timesheets, manage red‑line drawings and respond to consultant/customer comments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or electronics engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of field experience in HV substation protection and control systems.
• Strong knowledge of protection and busbar philosophy, CCS and substation automation.
• Fluent English communication skills; Arabic is a plus.

Required skills

• CT/VT adequacy checks and relay setting verification.
• IEC‑61850 signal mapping and cybersecurity implementation.
• Protection relay software (GE, MiCOM) and test kits (Omicron, Megger).
• Busbar protection, LCC equipment and SCMS.
• Project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
