Purchasing Agent (Food & Inventory)

About the role

The Purchasing Agent will support Marriott International's food operations by managing inventory, processing invoices, and ensuring timely and accurate procurement of supplies. This full‑time position requires strong attention to detail and adherence to food safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Calculate figures for food inventories, orders, and costs.
• Maintain organized records, file reports and invoices, and post invoices using computer programs.
• Conduct inventory audits, complete requisition forms, and notify supervisors of low stock levels.
• Verify and track received inventory, reconcile shipping invoices with receiving reports, and generate inventory reports.
• Receive, unload, and process deliveries; reject damaged or incorrect items.
• Troubleshoot vendor delivery issues and oversee the return process.
• Follow food safety and handling policies, monitor PAR levels, and ensure compliance with quality‑assurance standards.
• Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions; complete required safety training.
• Communicate professionally, answer telephone calls, and maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
• Perform physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 lb, moving through confined spaces, and standing for extended periods.

Required profile

• Ability to read and verify information in various formats, including small print.
• Physical capability to stand, walk, lift, push, pull, and reach overhead or below the knees throughout the shift.
• Willingness to follow company policies, maintain a professional appearance, and protect company assets.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively with team members.

Required skills

• Computer proficiency for posting invoices and data entry.
• Experience using Point of Sale (POS) systems.
• Familiarity with inventory management software.
