QC Inspector - Refractory and Fire Proofing

About the role

Samsung E&A, a specialized EPC company covering oil and gas, refinery, petrochemical, energy transition and industrial sectors, is hiring a QC Inspector for the Taziz Methanol project in Abu Dhabi. The role covers refractory linings and passive fire protection (PFP) and works within the mechanical department's QA/QC function.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain site quality in line with corporate and project quality standards and the quality management system
• Establish inspection and test plans and their record forms according to project requirements and international codes and standards
• Carry out inspections, verify that work conforms to quality requirements and record results
• Control inspection status using tools such as an inspection matrix and set up practical inspection processes for each discipline
• Prepare inspection records for the MC document control system and close out NCRs within the due date, supporting corrective action plans
• Coordinate inspections with the client and act as QC supervisor in his or her absence
• Hold preparatory meetings with subcontractors on the discipline
• Ensure high-temperature linings (furnaces, boilers, reactors) and passive fire protection systems on structural steel and equipment conform to engineering drawings, project specifications and industry standards

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in engineering (mechanical, metallurgical, chemical or civil)
• Minimum 8 years of QA/QC experience in oil and gas, petrochemical or refining industries
• Medium to large project experience and familiarity with project specifications and standards
• Relevant experience in GCC engineering and construction companies
• At least 3 years of direct experience inspecting, testing and applying refractory linings (FCCUs, heaters, reformers) and PFP materials
• Mandatory certifications: API 936 (Refractory Personnel) and NACE / AMPP Level 2/3 or FROSIO Level II/III or equivalent PFP/coating certification
