QC Inspector – Welding & Structural

About the role

SGS is seeking an experienced Quality Control Inspector specialized in welding and structural inspections for offshore projects. The role involves ensuring that all fabrication, assembly, and installation activities meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Perform welding and structural inspections during fabrication, assembly, and installation phases.
• Verify compliance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), drawings, and project specifications.
• Monitor and witness non‑destructive testing (NDT) activities and coordinate effectively with NDT contractors.
• Ensure fabrication activities adhere to international codes and standards such as AWS D1.1, ASME, and EEMUA 158.
• Conduct inspections for offshore topside and jacket fabrication, including fit‑up, welding, and dimensional checks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of total experience, with at least 5 years after obtaining CSWIP/AWS certification.
• Proven experience in offshore topside and jacket fabrication.
• Mandatory CSWIP 3.1/3.2 or AWS certification.
• Strong knowledge of welding inspection, structural fabrication, and NDT coordination.
• Familiarity with offshore codes and standards (AWS D1.1, ASME, EEMUA 158).
