QC Inspector – Welding & Structural (Offshore)

About the role

SGS is seeking an experienced Quality Control Inspector specialized in welding and structural inspections for offshore projects. The role involves ensuring that all fabrication, assembly and installation activities meet the highest standards of quality, safety and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Perform welding and structural inspections during fabrication, assembly and installation phases.
• Verify compliance with approved welding procedures (WPS), inspection test plans (ITPs), drawings and project specifications.
• Monitor and witness non‑destructive testing (NDT) activities and coordinate with NDT contractors.
• Ensure fabrication work adheres to international codes and standards such as AWS D1.1, ASME and EEMUA 158.
• Conduct inspections on offshore topside and jacket structures, including fit‑up, welding quality and dimensional checks.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years after obtaining CSWIP or AWS certification.
• Proven experience in offshore topside and jacket fabrication.
• Valid CSWIP 3.1/3.2 or AWS certification (mandatory).
• Strong knowledge of welding inspection, structural fabrication and NDT coordination.
• Familiarity with offshore codes and standards (AWS D1.1, ASME, EEMUA 158).
