Quality Control Engineer (Client Side)

About the role

The Quality Control Engineer acts as the Client's quality representative on construction projects, monitoring and controlling the quality of works so that they are executed in line with approved designs, specifications, contractual requirements, authority regulations and the Client's quality standards. The role independently monitors the Main Contractor and Consultant, identifies quality deficiencies and ensures timely corrective action.

Key responsibilities

• Review and monitor the Quality Management Plan, and ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, BOQ, contract requirements and applicable codes and standards
• Review Inspection and Test Plans, method statements and quality procedures, and monitor their implementation
• Conduct regular site inspections of structural and concrete works, waterproofing, blockwork, MEP, façade, finishing and other critical activities
• Identify defective or non-compliant works and ensure rectification; attend critical inspections and testing as the Client's representative
• Report Non-Conformance Reports and quality deficiencies, track corrective and preventive actions, maintain a register of defects and escalate repeated failures to the Project Manager
• Monitor the Consultant's supervision and the Contractor's compliance with quality procedures, and review quality reports
• Monitor testing and commissioning, review test records and laboratory results, and verify that defects are fixed before handover
• Prepare periodic quality reports, maintain inspection records and highlight critical quality risks

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline
• Minimum 12-15 years of construction experience, preferably in building construction and real estate development
• Experience with developers, client representatives or project management consultants preferred

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of construction materials, specifications, inspection procedures and quality standards
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems
• Knowledge of UAE construction regulations and authority requirements
