Quality Control Inspector – RM3 (Steel Industry)

About the role

The company is seeking a Quality Control Inspector (RM3) to perform inline inspections at its steel mills in Abu Dhabi. The role focuses on identifying, classifying and reporting non‑conforming products to ensure compliance with Emirates Steel standards, ASME codes and customer specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct inline inspection and classification of rolled products according to standard procedures.
• Report non‑conformities immediately to the mill for corrective action.
• Perform sampling for testing and provide samples at specified frequencies.
• Re‑inspect material after rectification, record results and prepare inspection reports.
• Carry out random dimensional checks, surface defect inspections and verify chemical analysis of billets.
• Enter inspection data into SAP and make usage decisions.
• Maintain safety, health and environmental standards on the shop floor.
• Support implementation of ISO 17025 testing standards.

Required profile

• Diploma in metallurgy, mechanical engineering or a related science field.
• 2‑5 years of experience in a similar inspection role within an integrated steel plant.
• Strong knowledge of steel‑making processes, reinforcing‑bar specifications and common product defects.
• Ability to work under production pressure and follow strict quality procedures.

Required skills

• SAP user knowledge for data entry and release decisions.
• Inspection techniques for identification and segregation of non‑conforming items.
• Understanding of specifications for reinforcing bars and wire‑rod coils.
• Familiarity with ASME codes and ISO 17025 testing requirements.
