Quality Inspector – Welding & Coating

About the role

Petrofac is seeking a Quality Inspector (Inspector I) to oversee welding and coating activities on its Abu Dhabi site. You will ensure that fabrication, installation, and testing of process piping, steel structures, tanks, vessels and other metallic items meet the required standards and specifications.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and report on fabrication, erection and testing processes for piping, steel structures, tanks and vessels.
• Review welding procedure specifications (WPS), procedure qualification records (PQR) and weld maps.
• Witness welder qualifications and verify material traceability.
• Control welding consumables, ensure proper storage, handling and calibration of welding equipment.
• Perform visual and dimensional inspections during fabrication and construction, including fit‑up and final visual checks.
• Monitor welding process parameters for compliance with approved procedures and project specifications.
• Prepare and review inspection reports, daily welding reports and test records (including PWHT charts).
• Ensure coating material handling follows manufacturer instructions, MSDS and environmental standards.

Required profile

• Experience in welding and coating inspection within the oil & gas or industrial sector.
• Familiarity with welding documentation (WPS, PQR, weld maps) and quality control procedures.
• Ability to assess contractor performance and verify personnel qualifications.
