Quantity Surveyor

About the role

The Quantity Surveyor manages the cost, contractual and commercial aspects of construction projects, ensuring delivery within budget, on time and in line with quality and contractual requirements, Land Sterling standards and local regulations. The postholder acts as a central member of the team and fulfills the duties of a Junior Quantity Surveyor, undertaking those tasks where required.

Key responsibilities

• Take off quantities from drawings and specifications using standard methods such as POMI and NRM, and help prepare Bills of Quantities and cost breakdowns.
• Prepare cost estimates and budgets at concept, schematic and detailed design stages, and support feasibility studies.
• Prepare BOQs, tender documents and pricing schedules, and evaluate tender submissions with comparison reports.
• Review contractor payment applications, record variations, monitor cost performance and help prepare monthly cost reports and cash flow forecasts.
• Support contract administration under FIDIC or equivalent forms, including claims and extensions of time.
• Help agree final accounts, archive cost documentation and support project closeout.
• Coordinate with project managers, consultants and contractors, attend meetings and report on commercial progress.
• Maintain cost records, reports and project files, and keep up to date with market rates and professional standards such as RICS and AIQS.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or Civil / MEP Engineering.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the field.
• Proven experience in tendering and Design & Build environments.
• Knowledge of FIDIC contracts.
• Extensive understanding of building pathology, construction technology and regulatory requirements.
