Radioactive Waste Management Specialist

About the role

The Radioactive Waste Management Specialist will implement and oversee the solid and clearance level radioactive waste processes, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and waste minimisation goals. This role supports safe, efficient waste handling at the nuclear facility.

Key responsibilities

• Execute waste minimisation initiatives to reduce generation and cost.
• Control hazardous substances in Radiologically Controlled Areas and manage disposal in line with criteria.
• Monitor and dispose of clearance level waste, ensuring regulatory compliance.
• Examine spent filters and operate scaling‑factor programs to evaluate waste inventory.
• Manage on‑site transportation, storage, and interim building monitoring for low and medium level waste.
• Support inventory management of waste treatment equipment and expendables.
• Participate in the Radioactive Waste Management Committee and oversee material packaging, shipping, and disposal.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science degree.
• Minimum 3 years relevant experience, including at least 1 year in a nuclear power plant environment.
• Experience with APR‑1400 or OPR‑1000 reactors in radiation safety is preferred.
• Commitment to ALARA principles and waste minimisation.
