Registered Nurse – Ophthalmology

About the role

The Registered Nurse – Ophthalmology provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing eye assessments, treatments, and procedures at Moorfields Eye Hospital Center, Abu Dhabi. Working closely with ophthalmologists and a multidisciplinary team, the nurse ensures safe, compassionate, and efficient patient experiences aligned with organizational and DOH standards.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive ophthalmic nursing care, including patient assessments, treatment planning, and ongoing monitoring.
• Assist ophthalmologists during diagnostic, therapeutic, and minor surgical procedures, maintaining patient safety and comfort.
• Administer medications, provide pre‑ and post‑procedure care, and monitor patient responses according to clinical protocols.
• Educate patients and families on eye health, treatment plans, post‑procedure care, and preventive practices.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and communicate patient information effectively with the multidisciplinary team.
• Adhere to M42, DOH, and infection‑prevention standards while promoting a culture of patient safety and quality.
• Participate in quality‑improvement initiatives, patient‑experience goals, and departmental KPIs.
• Support a collaborative team environment through mentorship and continuous professional development.

Required profile

• Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or equivalent.
• Valid Department of Health (DOH) license as a Registered Nurse or eligibility to obtain one.
• 1–3 years of ophthalmology nursing experience.

Required skills

• Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) documentation.
