Regular or Visiting Faculty – Civil Engineering (Fall 2027)

About the role

The Department of Civil Engineering at the American University of Sharjah seeks qualified candidates for regular or visiting faculty positions starting Fall 2027. Regular appointments are three‑year renewable contracts focused on research and teaching, while visiting appointments are one‑year renewable contracts primarily dedicated to teaching.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in civil engineering, construction engineering and management, and digital construction.
• Develop and maintain an active research program (regular faculty) that attracts internal and external funding.
• Supervise student projects, theses, and dissertations.
• Participate in departmental service, curriculum development, and accreditation activities.

Required profile

• PhD in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated teaching experience and a strong teaching portfolio.
• For regular faculty: evidence of research productivity and ability to secure funding.
• Experience with the American model of higher education is highly desirable.
