Remote Internal Auditor - Crypto Payments

About the role

Axiom Recruit is hiring a remote Internal Auditor for a $1bn fintech and digital-assets company building global financial infrastructure in payments, banking and digital assets. The business has raised over $100m in 2026 and is expanding internationally and regulatorily. Financial audit is already covered externally, so this role focuses on how the business actually operates: identifying risks, weaknesses and inefficient processes, strengthening controls and helping the company scale.

Key responsibilities

• Review how key business and operational processes work end-to-end
• Identify risks, inefficiencies and control gaps
• Assess and test internal controls
• Investigate the root causes behind issues
• Recommend practical improvements and work with teams to strengthen processes and systems
• Track findings and remediation through to completion

Required profile

• Experience in Internal Audit, Operational Audit, Internal Controls, Risk & Controls or Controls Assurance
• Ideally from fintech, payments, banking, financial services or another regulated environment
• Comfortable looking beyond a checklist and able to challenge constructively and help implement improvements
• CIA, CISA, ACA or ACCA is advantageous but not essential
