Research Assistant – Sustainable Construction Materials

About the role

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at United Arab Emirates University is seeking a motivated Research Assistant to support a project on sustainable construction materials. You will work closely with faculty to explore cement‑free geopolymer concrete and the utilization of industrial solid waste in concrete production.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive literature surveys on geopolymer concrete and waste‑based materials.
• Design concrete mixes, prepare testing specimens, and perform casting operations.
• Execute laboratory tests, including mechanical testing and microstructure characterization.
• Collect, organize, and analyze experimental data.
• Contribute to the preparation of the final research report and possible publications.

Required profile

• B.Sc. degree in Civil Engineering (or related field).
• Hands‑on experience with concrete mix design and laboratory procedures such as casting, testing, and strain‑gauge installation.
• Proven ability to collect and analyze experimental data.
• Intention to pursue an MSc in Civil Engineering at UAEU (as applicable).
