Research Systems Manager

About the role

The Research Systems Manager serves as the university’s expert on electronic research administration (ERA) tools. This position leads system integrations, data migrations, and data‑enablement projects that ensure continuity of research and development activities across the institution.

Key responsibilities

• Manage research systems and act as the primary data‑management liaison for the R&D division.
• Lead project‑management activities for system integrations, change orders, and data migrations.
• Coordinate with vendors to implement system enhancements and ensure seamless data feeds.
• Represent the research division on technology committees and external data‑enablement initiatives.
• Maintain the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of sponsored‑project data records.
• Support internal and external audits by providing required research activity information.
• Develop and deliver training modules and informational resources for system users.
• Oversee institutional logins for sponsor portals in collaboration with research operations.
• Create and maintain policies on data integrity and records retention in partnership with IT and department directors.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing research or enterprise systems in an academic or research environment.
• Strong project‑management skills, including coordination of integrations and migrations.
• Ability to work with multiple internal stakeholders and external vendors.
• Familiarity with research administration processes such as proposals, awards, ethics applications, and effort reporting.
• Commitment to information security, confidentiality, and compliance with university policies.
