Research Systems Manager

About the role

The Office of Research Services at the American University of Sharjah is seeking a Research Systems Manager to lead the development, implementation and maintenance of its research administration platforms. The role bridges faculty, researchers and IT teams to ensure that research processes are efficient, secure and aligned with the university’s strategic goals.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and enforce policies governing research system transactions and data handling.
• Design, build and automate custom reports, workflow forms and electronic routing/approval processes.
• Provide technical support for research administration systems, including troubleshooting, system upgrades and integrations.
• Manage data quality, drive automation of standard processes and conduct vulnerability assessments.
• Train faculty and staff on system usage, best practices and security protocols.
• Coordinate system integration projects with IT and other university departments.
• Ensure compliance with information security and confidentiality policies.
• Perform additional tasks as assigned by the Line Manager.

Required profile

• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in research administration or related fields.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a comparable discipline.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
• Experience with research management and ERP tools such as Pre‑Award systems, Oracle and Pure.
• Ability to audit system permissions and conduct security vulnerability assessments.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
