Safety Engineer – Construction Projects

About the role

The Safety Engineer will lead and support Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) activities on construction projects, ensuring compliance with company policies, client requirements and local regulations. Reporting to the HSE Manager and functionally to the Project Manager, the role safeguards workers, assets and the environment while promoting a strong safety culture.

Key responsibilities

• Act as in‑charge of the Project HSE Department in the HSE Manager’s absence.
• Supervise, organise and assign work to HSE Officers and Inspectors.
• Issue stop‑work orders when imminent danger is identified.
• Monitor site operations for compliance with ADPHC/ADOSH, DM Code of Construction Safety Practice and other local regulations.
• Develop, review and implement the Project HSE Plan and related documentation.
• Conduct daily safety inspections, audits and random checks across sites, plants and accommodation facilities.
• Track and close out safety violations, issuing warnings or improvement notices as needed.
• Liaise with municipal, government and public authorities on safety matters.

Required profile

• Minimum 12 years of experience in construction HSE roles.
• Proven ability to lead HSE teams and manage incident investigations.
• Strong knowledge of UAE construction safety regulations and international standards.
• Excellent communication skills to interact with project managers, subcontractors and authorities.
