Screwman – Asphalt Paver Operations

About the role

The Screwman works on asphalt paver machines to ensure precise paving of roads and infrastructure projects. You will control the screed system, adjusting width, thickness, level, slope and alignment to meet project specifications while collaborating closely with the paver operator, grade checker, surveyor and foreman.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and adjust the screed system of asphalt paver machines during paving operations.
• Maintain required paving width, thickness, level, slope and alignment.
• Monitor asphalt material flow to achieve a smooth, uniform surface.
• Make real‑time screed adjustments based on site conditions and project requirements.
• Assist in maintaining proper asphalt temperature and material distribution.
• Perform basic cleaning and maintenance of the screed and related equipment.
• Identify and report any machine or paving issues to the operator or foreman.
• Follow all health, safety and environmental (HSE) procedures on site.

Required profile

• Previous experience as a Screwman or screed operator on asphalt paver machines.
• Good knowledge of asphalt paving, screed adjustment, levels, slopes and thickness.
• Experience in road and infrastructure projects, preferably within the GCC/UAE.
• Ability to work effectively with paver operators, grade checkers, surveyors and site teams.
