Second WK Electrical Engineer (Marine Dredger)

About the role

The 2nd WK Electrical Engineer will support the 1st WK Electrical Engineer in maintaining and optimizing the electrical systems on board a dredger. This role ensures reliable power generation, distribution and control, contributing to safe and efficient marine operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the 1st WK Electrical Engineer in daily operations and maintenance of onboard electrical systems.
• Perform routine inspections and tests to identify potential issues and ensure equipment reliability.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical faults, implementing effective solutions to minimise downtime.
• Maintain accurate records of system performance and repairs, complying with industry standards.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to integrate electrical systems with onboard equipment.
• Monitor and optimise energy consumption, applying energy‑efficient practices.
• Train and supervise junior electrical engineers or technicians.
• Stay updated on advancements in electrical engineering and apply innovative solutions.
• Ensure compliance with safety protocols and promote a safe working environment.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar marine or dredging role.
• Willingness to work onboard a dredger and adapt to marine operational challenges.
• Valid certifications or licences related to electrical engineering (e.g., Professional Engineer) are preferred.
