Senior Accountant – Construction Projects

About the role

The Senior Accountant will lead the financial and accounting functions for construction projects and the wider company, ensuring accurate reporting, cost control, and compliance with statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Perform general ledger reconciliations and ensure timely month‑end and year‑end closing.
• Monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank reconciliations.
• Assist in external and internal audits.
• Track project costs, budgets, commitments and expenditures; reconcile project costs with BOQ and budgets.
• Prepare project profitability and cost variance reports.
• Manage retention, advance payments and subcontractor invoicing.
• Assist in preparing annual and project‑specific budgets, monitor cash flows and forecast funding requirements.
• Analyze budget variances and recommend corrective actions to maximise profitability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Professional certification such as ACCA or CMA preferred.
• 5–10 years of accounting experience, preferably within the construction industry.
• Minimum 5 years of UAE experience in a contracting background.
