Senior AI Engineer

About the role

UMO is a FinTech venture building an AI-powered money platform across fiat, crypto and investments, with its headquarters in the UAE and offices in Portugal and Ukraine. As a Senior AI Engineer you will take direct technical ownership of key parts of the AI ecosystem, with autonomy to build clean, high-impact architecture. The role focuses on production-grade AI systems, agentic workflows and LLM tooling.

Key responsibilities

• Write production code and implement robust backend components and reliable asynchronous execution pipelines alongside AI models
• Design deterministic-agentic bridges so complex autonomous tasks stay within predictable, secure and compliant financial boundaries
• Take full responsibility for moving machine learning models from research prototypes to stable, performant production code
• Work with backend and data engineers to bring agentic workflows to monitored production, covering retrieval, memory, context and orchestration
• Use modern AI tools (Cursor, Claude Code, Copilot) as part of daily engineering

Required profile

• 7-15 years of overall software engineering experience, including 3+ years in senior AI or ML engineering roles
• Deep software fundamentals and hands-on experience designing, writing and scaling production ML and AI systems
• Experience shipping agentic systems into production, not just prototyping them
• Comfort designing AI systems within strict security, compliance and audit boundaries; fintech or crypto background is not required
• Fluent English

• Python and asynchronous execution models
• LLM tooling and orchestration frameworks such as LangGraph and Microsoft Agent Framework
• Agentic patterns such as Plan-and-Solve, ReAct and Reflection
• Prompt and context engineering
• RAG pipelines, semantic search, chunking, embeddings, hybrid search and re-ranking
• Evaluation with RAGAS and DeepEval
• Handling PII and sensitive data with LLMs in a regulated environment
