Senior Backend Engineer

About the role

Justlife is the leading super‑app for home services in the GCC, connecting thousands of professionals with customers in real time. As a Senior Backend Engineer you will own critical services that power the marketplace, drive technical direction, and mentor fellow engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and maintain smart matching algorithms that dispatch professionals at scale.
• Build and operate live‑order tracking, availability, and assignment systems.
• Develop and optimise APIs for third‑party integrations with an API‑first approach.
• Model databases, improve attribute‑management, and ensure performance and reliability.
• Implement A/B experimentation frameworks and prototype AI‑driven features.
• Lead services from design through production, making sound trade‑offs and supporting on‑call rotation.

Required profile

• Strong proficiency in Java and hands‑on experience with Spring Boot.
• Deep knowledge of relational databases (MySQL) and ORM tools such as Hibernate.
• Experience designing distributed, high‑throughput systems using RabbitMQ and Redis.
• Solid grasp of SOLID principles, OOP design, design patterns, and testing discipline (unit & integration tests).
• Ability to take end‑to‑end ownership of services and mentor junior engineers.
