Senior Coastal Engineer

About the role

Jacobs is seeking a Senior Coastal Engineer to lead and deliver a range of coastal and maritime infrastructure projects across the Middle East. The role combines technical design, project coordination and mentorship of junior engineers to ensure successful project outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Design and coordinate coastal and maritime infrastructure, including preparation of calculations, design drawings, reports, specifications, tender documents and evaluations.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams, manage marine project delivery, and coach junior engineers on technical aspects of coastal engineering.
• Prepare technical proposals and support client-facing activities.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil, Marine, Coastal, Ocean Engineering or a related field from a recognized university.
• 10–15 years of experience as a Coastal Engineer, preferably with project work in the Middle East.
• Membership in a recognized professional institution (e.g., ICE, IMarEST, APM, RICS, CIOB, AIA, RIBA).

Required skills

• Coastal structures design (beaches, groynes, breakwaters, revetments, scour protection, dredging, reclamation, concrete armour protection).
• Waterfront development master planning and marina layout/design.
• Marine edge structures design (quay walls, piles, jetties).
• Numerical modelling of coastal processes (wave transformation, hydrodynamics, sediment transport).
• Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and physical modelling.
• Vessel navigation and mooring studies.
