Senior Data Scientist – AI & Machine Learning

About the role

talabat is seeking a Senior Data Scientist to design, build, and ship machine learning and generative AI systems that power product and business decisions across its regional platform. You will own the end‑to‑end ML lifecycle for a specific domain, collaborating closely with product and business managers.

Key responsibilities

• Translate ambiguous business problems into well‑defined ML projects with clear success criteria.
• Design, develop, and deploy end‑to‑end ML and generative AI systems, including data pipelines, feature engineering, model training, serving, and monitoring.
• Engineer robust, production‑grade code and maintain reliable ML models at scale.
• Leverage LLMs and generative AI for data enrichment, smart content understanding, and automated decision‑making.
• Build and maintain data models, features, and pipelines; design experiments to measure impact.
• Mentor junior data scientists and promote best practices in MLOps and tooling.

Required profile

• 5+ years of experience in data science, machine learning engineering, and generative AI.
• Strong problem‑solving mindset, ownership, and ability to collaborate across functions.
• Excellent communication skills and a “keep it simple” approach.

Required skills

• Machine learning, deep learning, recommendation systems, NLP, pattern recognition, data mining.
• Frameworks: Scikit‑learn, XGBoost, LightGBM, CatBoost, SVMs, Keras, TensorFlow, PyTorch, Transformers, LLM fine‑tuning.
• Programming: Python, SQL.
• Data engineering: Airflow, data pipeline orchestration.
• Statistical analysis, experiment design (A/B, multivariate).
• Familiarity with BigQuery and Google Cloud Platform (plus).
