Senior Data Scientist – Geospatial AI

About the role

Nabat is seeking a senior data scientist to lead the development of AI‑powered models that turn large, complex geospatial datasets into actionable ecological insights. You will work at the intersection of climate‑tech, GIS, and machine learning to support ecosystem restoration projects across the UAE and beyond.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, train, validate, and deploy predictive models that extract scientific insights from satellite and drone imagery.
• Apply AI/ML and statistical techniques to tasks such as land‑use classification, species identification, carbon stock estimation, biodiversity assessment, and restoration scenario modeling.
• Build scalable, high‑performance pipelines for ingestion, storage, processing, and visualization of geotagged ultra‑high‑resolution RGB, multispectral, hyperspectral, KML, and LiDAR data.
• Collaborate closely with software engineers, data engineers, ecologists, GIS analysts, drone pilots, and product managers to deliver end‑to‑end solutions.
• Transfer knowledge from research partners and stay abreast of the latest advances in geospatial AI.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a senior or staff‑level data scientist working with large geospatial datasets.
• Strong domain knowledge in ecological or environmental science is a plus.
• Self‑driven, able to work independently while collaborating across multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to relocate to the UAE; relocation benefits and family visa sponsorship are provided.
