Senior Design Engineer - Stormwater & Drainage

About the role

AECOM is looking for a Senior Design Engineer in stormwater and drainage in Dubai. The engineer leads the design, hydrologic modelling and delivery of surface-water, stormwater drainage and flood-management solutions for civil and transport infrastructure projects, working within multi-disciplinary teams to deliver safe, sustainable and code-compliant water engineering systems.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the layout, design and analysis of surface drainage, piped networks, culverts, highway drainage and cross-drainage structures
• Develop, calibrate and run 1D/2D hydraulic and hydrologic models to simulate water flow, assess flood risks and size networks
• Champion Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) and Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)
• Ensure compliance with local authority guidelines, environmental regulations and regional standards such as Dubai Municipality codes of practice
• Prepare drainage design reports, calculation sheets, technical specifications and risk assessments
• Collaborate with structural, geotechnical, transport and BIM/CAD teams to produce clash-free drawings
• Mentor and supervise junior and intermediate water engineers

Required profile

• Minimum 8 to 12 years of overall experience in water engineering, focused on stormwater management and drainage design
• Sound understanding of GCC/UAE construction environments and familiarity with local municipal design codes
• Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, or actively progressing toward it
• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, hydrology or water resources engineering (master's degree is an advantage)
