Senior Desktop Software Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Desktop Software Engineer to design, develop and maintain the Ground Control Station (GCS) software. The role focuses on creating high‑performance, intuitive graphical user interfaces using the Qt framework and QML, and works within a safety‑critical environment.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain GCS software using Qt and QML, delivering responsive GUI applications.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle: planning, design, coding, testing, integration and deployment.
• Collaborate with hardware and embedded systems teams to ensure seamless software integration with connected components.
• Perform integration testing to validate system functionality, reliability and performance.
• Document software architecture, design decisions and requirement specifications.
• Create and maintain user guides and technical documentation for end‑users and internal teams.
• Write and maintain unit tests to guarantee high‑quality, reliable code.
• Ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices in safety‑critical environments.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, Computer) or Computer Science.
• Minimum 10 years of software development experience (or 7 + years with a Master’s degree).
• At least 5 years of hands‑on C++ development.
• Strong expertise in Qt framework, Qt QML and GUI‑based application development.
• Proven experience working with large and complex codebases.

Required skills

• C++ programming and object‑oriented design.

• Linux‑based development environments.
• Python for supporting tools and automation.
• Jenkins or similar continuous‑integration tools.
• Networking protocols such as TCP, UDP and IP.
• Hardware communication protocols: UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet.
• Version control with Git.
• Knowledge of safety‑critical standards (DO‑178C, ISO 26262) and real‑time operating system concepts.
