Senior Electrical Design Engineer (Infra Consultancy)

About the role

Bilfinger, a German engineering and consultancy group active in the Middle East, is hiring a Senior Electrical Design Engineer for its Abu Dhabi office. The role covers electrical design and engineering studies for infrastructure projects, including substations, pumping stations and power systems.

Key responsibilities

• Perform engineering studies such as load flow, short circuit, motor starting, arc flash and harmonic studies.
• Carry out engineering calculations including earthing, lightning risk assessment, lighting, cable and transformer sizing, switchgear sizing, UPS and battery sizing.
• Prepare earthing and lightning layout drawings, single line diagrams, protection diagrams, schematic diagrams, general arrangement drawings, load and cable schedules, and equipment layouts.
• Prepare reports, bills of quantities, scopes of work, specifications, data sheets and other construction documents.
• Take part in tender analysis and prepare technical and commercial bid evaluation reports.
• Review and comment on contractor and vendor technical submittals and shop drawings.

Required profile

• Minimum bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 8-10 years of experience.
• Experience working with major clients in the UAE.
• Good understanding of substations (primary and distribution) and pumping stations.
• Strong communication skills, ability to interface with other disciplines and understand client requirements.
• Able to work as part of a team and coordinate with other disciplines.

Required skills

• Knowledge of international and utility standards such as TAQA D/TAQA T, SEWA and ADNOC.
• Software: ETAP, PSS E, Dialux and MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
