Senior Engineer – Quality

About the role

Petrofac is seeking a Senior Engineer – Quality to lead quality assurance for electrical infrastructure on the Das Island site in Abu Dhabi. The role involves overseeing cable installation, testing and equipment commissioning to ensure compliance with manufacturer standards and industry best practices.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct cable glanding training and approve qualification of glanding/termination personnel.
• Review and approve cable jointer/terminator qualification certificates.
• Inspect and test temporary electrical works and connections to camp facilities.
• Inspect installation of supports, cable trays, conduits, and underground stub‑ups before cable laying.
• Monitor cable trench dimensions, sand bedding, and segregation arrangements prior to back‑filling.
• Witness insulation resistance, continuity, hi‑pot, IR, and torque tests at various stages of cable installation.
• Supervise final torquing of cable terminations and installation of cable tray covers.
• Provide surveillance during substation equipment installation to ensure manufacturer recommendations are followed.
• Monitor preservation activities of switchgear, transformers, bus ducts and other equipment.
• Inspect switchgear alignment and location, and witness bus‑bar joint torquing, doctor tests, IR tests and hi‑pot tests where applicable.

Required profile

• Proven experience in electrical quality inspection and testing for cable and substation projects.
• Familiarity with cable glanding, termination, and segregation standards.
• Ability to assess and approve personnel qualifications for electrical works.
