Senior Fuel Handling Technician

About the role

The Senior Fuel Handling Technician will lead and monitor all outage activities related to reactor vessel disassembly, core fuel removal, shuffling, reload, and spent fuel pool movements. The role ensures compliance with Nawah standards and safe execution of fuel receipt, handling, and storage operations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead preparation and execution of fuel receipt, initial loading, reactor pressure vessel disassembly/re‑assembly, and core loading/unloading.
• Manage fuel handling systems, overhead and polar cranes, rigging equipment, and special tools.
• Prepare work packages, hazard analyses, method statements, and final reports.
• Develop and improve fuel handling procedures based on operational experience.
• Oversee inspection, testing, and maintenance of fuel handling equipment and third‑party certificates.
• Conduct foreign object search and retrieval (FOSAR) in the fuel handling area and refueling pool.
• Ensure availability of infrastructure (power, air, cooling, lighting, shielding) for uninterrupted work.
• Report issues to the Fuel Handling management team to avoid critical path delays.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in nuclear fuel handling and outage operations.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in high‑risk environments.
• Strong knowledge of Nawah standards, safety procedures, and documentation requirements.
• Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making skills under pressure.
