Senior Group Accountant – Regional Finance

About the role

The Senior Group Accountant will own all aspects of financial accounting for a regional professional services group, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the role also handles quarterly VAT returns and supports cash‑flow and working‑capital reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial statements in line with regulatory requirements.
• Prepare and file quarterly VAT returns.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including reconciliation and general ledger maintenance.
• Support collections, cash‑flow, and work‑in‑progress reporting for management.
• Oversee internal accounting and booking systems to ensure data integrity.
• Coordinate audit activities and ensure compliance with group reporting standards.

Required profile

• Professional qualification (ACA, ACCA or CPA).
• Big Four audit background within a professional services environment.
• Hands‑on operational finance and accounting experience.
• Understanding of tax, regulatory matters and ability to liaise with internal/external auditors.
• Knowledge of working‑capital, cash‑flow and MIS reporting for business partnering.

Required skills

• Advanced proficiency in Excel.
• Experience with accounting and reporting software.
• Strong knowledge of VAT preparation and general ledger processes.
