About the role
EDGE’s POWERTECH centre of excellence seeks a Senior Hardware Design Engineer to lead the development of engine control hardware for aerospace, defence and autonomous platforms. You will create robust ECU architectures, integrate analog, digital and mixed‑signal circuits, and ensure compliance with stringent aerospace standards.
Key responsibilities
- Develop hardware architectures for Engine Control Units (ECUs) and design analog, digital, and mixed‑signal control circuits.
- Design DSP‑, MCU‑, and MPU‑based control boards, low‑power supply and voltage regulation circuits, and manage interfaces between system components, sensors and actuators.
- Perform schematic design, PCB layout, simulation, analysis, verification and low‑level functional testing, including environmental qualification and EMC/EMI compliance.
- Prepare technical test reports, support debugging, troubleshooting and continuous improvement throughout prototype and product development phases.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience in embedded or control hardware design.
- Strong knowledge of analog, digital and mixed‑signal circuit design, and experience with DSP/MCU/MPU board development.
- Proficiency with schematic and PCB layout tools such as Altium Designer or Mentor PADS.
- Familiarity with EMC/EMI design practices and military qualification standards (MIL‑STD‑461, MIL‑STD‑810, MIL‑STD‑704, RTCA/DO‑160, RTCA/DO‑254).
Required skills
- Analog, digital and mixed‑signal circuit design.

- Altium Designer, Mentor PADS (or equivalent).
- EMC/EMI‑aware hardware design.
- Power electronics and motor‑drive hardware (inverter/bridge, gate drivers).
- Design for PMSM, BLDC and brushed DC motors.
- Current and voltage sensing, signal conditioning, isolation techniques.
- Thermal design, power dissipation analysis and component derating.
