Senior Instrumentation & Control Engineer

About the role

KBR is seeking a Senior Instrumentation & Control Engineer to lead I&C design activities for oil & gas projects in Abu Dhabi. The role involves technical leadership during FEED and detailed engineering, offshore site surveys, and integration with multi‑discipline teams.

Key responsibilities

• Lead I&C engineering design and implementation across all project phases, ensuring compliance with standards and client requirements.
• Conduct offshore and onshore site visits, prepare survey reports, and develop engineering deliverables such as datasheets, I/O schedules, control narratives, and safety specifications.
• Review and approve engineering drawings, perform calculations for control valves, flow elements, thermowells, and relief valves, and coordinate procurement documentation.
• Participate in safety studies (HAZID, HAZOP, SIL), control system workshops (CHAZOP, Alarm Management, Cybersecurity), and multidisciplinary design reviews.

Required profile

• Minimum 12 years of experience, including at least 8 years in instrumentation & control design for oil & gas, with offshore exposure.
• Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Electronics, or related engineering discipline; professional certifications (ISA, TUV FSE, EXIDA, IEC) are a plus.
• Valid OPITO‑approved T‑BOSIET/BOSIET and H₂S certifications (minimum six months validity) preferred.

Required skills

• Instrumentation & Control system design, Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), hazardous area classification (IECEx/ATEX).
• Proficiency with DCS, ESD, FGS, PLC, RTU, SCADA, and telecommunications interfaces.
• Experience using AVEVA Instrumentation, SPI, INSTRUCALC, and other I&C design tools.
• Strong knowledge of international codes and standards (API, IEC, ISA, ISO, IEEE, NFPA, ADNOC).
