Senior Mechanical Engineer

About the role

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be the technical authority for mechanical systems across the plant, ensuring reliability, safety and efficient operation. This role leads engineering aspects of major outages, maintenance strategies and asset management without direct supervision of technicians.

Key responsibilities

• Act as technical authority for assigned mechanical equipment, monitor performance and drive reliability improvements.
• Lead root‑cause investigations, develop permanent solutions and maintain engineering standards and procedures.
• Develop and optimise preventive, predictive and condition‑based maintenance strategies and critical spare‑parts plans.
• Define engineering scope for major shutdowns, prepare technical specifications and provide oversight during execution.
• Manage engineering modifications, review drawings, support Management of Change processes and ensure compliance with OEM and statutory requirements.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; Chartered Engineer status desirable.
• 5–10 years of experience in heavy industry, power generation or similar facilities, with exposure to turbines, pumps, boilers and rotating equipment.
• Proven experience supporting major plant outages and conducting failure investigations.
