Senior Mechanical Engineer – Onshore Construction

About the role

Penspen is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead onshore construction activities for offshore oil & gas facilities in Abu Dhabi. The role ensures mechanical works are performed safely, efficiently, and in line with project specifications and schedules.

Key responsibilities

• Support onshore fabrication, module assembly, pre‑commissioning and construction for offshore projects.
• Review and support construction execution plans, work packs, method statements and procedures.
• Coordinate mechanical activities during fabrication, assembly, testing and pre‑commissioning phases.
• Monitor progress, identify schedule risks and propose mitigation measures.
• Review mechanical design deliverables for constructability and installation feasibility.
• Provide technical support for static and rotating equipment installation, piping fabrication and erection, structural interfaces, pressure testing and mechanical completion.
• Enforce HSE policies, ensure compliance with quality management systems, and support mechanical completion and handover.
• Interface with engineering, procurement, fabrication yards, commissioning teams and client representatives.
• Participate in progress meetings, construction reviews and prepare technical reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university.
• 15‑18+ years of experience, including at least 5 years on offshore projects.
• Proven experience in offshore platform, topsides or subsea‑related projects.
• Experience supporting fabrication yards and module construction.
• Strong knowledge of offshore construction methods, mechanical systems and safety standards.
• Preferred background in PMC/EPC and prior ADNOC offshore experience.
