Senior Medical Coder – Outpatient Services

About the role

The Senior Medical Coder will work on-site at IBO Medical Center in Sharjah, supporting outpatient services by accurately coding medical records and ensuring compliant claim submission. The role focuses on maximizing revenue cycle efficiency while maintaining strict adherence to UAE insurance and regulatory guidelines.

Key responsibilities

• Review outpatient clinical documentation and assign correct CPT, ICD‑10, and HCPCS codes.
• Validate insurance approvals, coverage policies, and coding requirements before claim submission.
• Collaborate with physicians and clinical staff to clarify diagnoses and obtain missing information.
• Support the billing team in resolving claim rejections or denials caused by coding discrepancies.
• Generate coding‑related audit reports and assist in internal and external audits.
• Maintain a zero‑rejection rate for all submitted claims and ensure timely claim submission (2nd of each month) and resubmission within 21 days.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a medical or healthcare‑related field.
• Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or equivalent AAPC/AHIMA certification.
• 5–7 years of UAE outpatient coding experience, preferably in medical centers or day‑care surgery centers in the Northern Emirates.
• Strong knowledge of DHA, MOH, and DOH insurance regulations.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CPT, ICD‑10, and HCPCS coding systems.
• Familiarity with UAE payer portals such as eClaimLink, Riayati, and Shafafiya.
• Experience with HIS/EMR systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
