Senior News Reporter – Oil, Gas and Commodities

About the role

Argus Media is hiring a Senior News Reporter in Dubai to report and write real-time news and analysis for its online news service (Argus Direct), market reports and business intelligence reports. Coverage centres on the Middle East's commodity markets, especially crude oil, refined products, natural gas, LPG and petrochemicals, and on the region's geopolitics, policymaking and regulation affecting these markets. The role combines diary and off-diary enterprise reporting with original analysis, organised around an agreed beat covering certain countries, geographies and commodity themes.

Key responsibilities

• Write real-time news and analysis for Argus Direct and in-depth features for weekly business intelligence reports, with a focus on off-diary enterprise reporting and forward-looking analysis.
• Cover Middle East oil, gas and commodity markets, including major output policy statements, and build a strong network of informed sources.
• Contribute to the "Opec team" by covering ministerial meetings and output policy discussions between meetings, and help produce the monthly Opec oil output survey with credible estimates.
• Attend industry and market events and pursue interviews with policymakers, CEOs and other newsmakers.
• Act as a thought leader and subject matter expert, supporting marketing and conferences through podcasts, webinars, media engagement and speaking at Argus events.
• Collaborate with editorial and other colleagues locally and in other Argus offices.
