Senior Payments Engineer - Cards Acquiring

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Payments Engineer specialized in Cards Acquiring to join our enterprise banking technology team in Dubai. The role sits within the Software Engineering Chapter and is responsible for end‑to‑end delivery, orchestration, and production support of critical business platforms and payment infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Drive technical delivery of card platform projects, enhancements and BAU demands.
• Design, develop and maintain components for the Cards Acquiring ecosystem, merchant processing frameworks and payment gateways.
• Integrate with global card schemes (Visa, Mastercard) and regional networks, ensuring compliance with financial standards.
• Lead system integration testing (SIT) and user acceptance testing (UAT), resolving critical defects.
• Coordinate zero‑downtime code releases and act as Tier‑3 escalation point for production support.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional Agile squads to translate business requirements into secure, scalable payment solutions.

Required profile

• Strong engineering background in credit/debit card processing, merchant/acquiring solutions and high‑performance payment switch integrations.
• Hands‑on experience with POS/mPOS terminals, e‑commerce gateways and clearing/settlement protocols.
• Deep knowledge of messaging standards such as ISO 8583, AS2805 and EMV compliance frameworks.
• Proficiency in SQL/Oracle databases and backend application frameworks for high‑throughput, low‑latency transaction services.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
