Senior Resident Engineer – Infrastructure/Bridges

About the role

AECOM is looking for a Senior Resident Engineer for Infrastructure/Bridges in Abu Dhabi to lead and oversee site supervision for major infrastructure and bridge construction projects. The role manages the supervision team, monitors progress and quality, coordinates with the Contractor and stakeholders, and ensures works comply with approved drawings, specifications and contractual requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage site supervision of bridge works (foundations, piling, abutments, piers, retaining walls, decks, bearings, expansion joints, barriers) and infrastructure works (roads, earthworks, stormwater drainage, sewerage, potable water, irrigation, electrical, telecom and other utilities).
• Manage the site supervision team, including Assistant Resident Engineers, Inspectors, Surveyors and other technical staff.
• Review Contractor submissions such as shop drawings, method statements, material submittals, inspection plans and construction programmes.
• Monitor progress, quality and compliance, and review IRs, RFIs, NCRs and other technical documentation.
• Coordinate with the Contractor, Client, utility authorities and designers to resolve technical and construction issues.
• Monitor the Contractor's programme, manpower, equipment and resources, and identify delays or risks.
• Ensure proper inspection, testing and commissioning, and monitor interfaces between bridges, roads and utilities.
• Take part in progress meetings, support the Project Manager on variations, claims and extension of time submissions, and ensure quality, health and safety and environmental compliance.
• Maintain site records and progress reports, and oversee handover and closeout including as-built drawings, testing records and O&M manuals.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• Relevant experience in site supervision and delivery of major infrastructure and bridge projects.
• Proven experience managing site supervision teams and coordinating with Contractors and stakeholders.
• Experience in progress monitoring, technical reviews, inspections, testing and commissioning.
• UAE experience on major infrastructure and bridge projects is preferred.

Required skills

• Strong technical knowledge of bridge structures, foundations, piling, concrete works, roads, earthworks, drainage and wet and dry utilities.
• Good understanding of construction contracts, technical specifications, quality procedures and project controls.
• Leadership, communication, problem-solving and coordination skills.
