Senior Shari’a Compliance Officer

About the role

The Senior Shari’a Compliance Officer ensures that all ADIB Group activities comply with the Higher Shari’a Authority (HSA) standards, ISSC resolutions and UAE Central Bank regulations. The role supports the receipt, recording, dissemination and implementation of new resolutions across the bank.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the team leader in managing the SRA unit’s functions and supervising team members.
• Ensure timely dissemination and accurate recording of new HSA and ISSC resolutions, including translation when required.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date database of resolutions using the Governance, Risk and Control (GRC) system.
• Communicate new resolutions to relevant departments and ensure proper implementation.
• Conduct comprehensive gap assessments against HSA resolutions, identify obligations, and assess risks and control effectiveness.
• Identify areas of Shari’a non‑compliance, recommend corrective actions, and monitor implementation of action plans.
• Provide regular status updates, prepare reports and dashboards for stakeholders.
• Support continuous refinement of ADIB’s Shari’a compliance policies, procedures and methodologies.

Required profile

• Proven experience in Shari’a compliance within a banking environment.
• Strong knowledge of Higher Shari’a Authority (HSA) and Islamic Financial Services Board (ISSC) resolutions.
• Familiarity with UAE Central Bank regulations related to Islamic banking.
• Ability to analyse resolutions, perform gap assessments and evaluate risk.
• Excellent communication skills to liaise with business units and stakeholders.

Required skills
