Senior Software Development Engineer 3 (Customer)

About the role

A team building a large-scale e-commerce platform is hiring a Senior Software Development Engineer 3 in Dubai. The engineer owns critical backend systems that power millions of customer journeys daily, from order placement to delivery, and defines how systems are designed and drives technical strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build identity services (authentication, authorization, session management, SSO) using OAuth 2.0 and JWT
• Develop account management APIs for profiles, preferences, address book and communication settings
• Build real-time order tracking services that aggregate status from warehouse, transport and delivery systems
• Architect the refunds platform covering returns, refund calculations, payment reversals and wallet credits
• Implement secure APIs that protect customer PII while enabling personalization
• Drive cross-team coordination so order lifecycle flows smoothly from checkout to delivery and post-order support
• Maintain observability with structured logging, journey tracing and alerts
• Own multi-quarter, multi-team product goals, make independent technical decisions and simplify code and infrastructure
• Debug non-deterministic bugs, resolve technical risks early and coach and mentor teammates
• Advocate for AI tools and set the technical roadmap for complex projects

Required profile

• 5-10 years of experience
• Proven track record of designing and running microservices at scale in production
• Experience in e-commerce, retail, logistics, supply chain or similar high-traffic consumer platforms
• On-site work in Dubai

Required skills

• Backend language: Python, Java or Node.js
• Cloud platforms (GCP, AWS or Azure) and containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
• CI/CD pipelines, blue-green and canary deployments
• Databases: query optimization, sharding, replication, Redis, Memcached, CDN
• Event-driven architectures (Kafka, SQS/SNS, Pub/Sub) and API security (OAuth 2.0, JWT, API gateways, WAF)
