Senior Software Development Engineer 3 (Ordering Applications Squad)

About the role

A client based in Abu Dhabi is looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer 3 for its Ordering Applications squad. The role is on-site and calls for strong backend development, microservices and cloud expertise.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build software and systems in your area of ownership that meet design objectives and longer-term business needs
• Handle complex, logically dense software modules and simplify code and infrastructure to reduce maintenance and migration costs
• Preemptively resolve technical risks and cross-team dependencies early
• Debug and reproduce non-deterministic bugs and system issues
• Lead technical design reviews and architectural decision records (ADRs) for cross-team systems
• Drive large-scale migrations, platform re-architecture or system decomposition projects

Required profile

• 5-10 years of experience
• Proven track record of designing, building and operating microservices at scale in production
• Experience with observability at scale: custom metrics, distributed tracing, SLO/SLI frameworks and incident management
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code and platform engineering practices

Required skills

• Backend languages: Python, Java or Node.js
• Cloud platforms (GCP, AWS or Azure) and containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
• CI/CD pipelines, blue-green and canary deployments, automated quality gates
• Databases: query optimization, sharding, replication and data modeling
• Event-driven architectures (Kafka, SQS/SNS, Pub/Sub) and caching (Redis, Memcached, CDN)
