Senior Software Engineer

About the role

Property Finder, the leading property portal in the MENA region, is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to build the services behind its marketplace. You will work on high-traffic, consumer-facing systems where latency, reliability and cost efficiency matter, designing and owning services end to end and raising the engineering bar for your team.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and operate backend services for core marketplace experiences, owning them from technical design and implementation through testing, deployment, observability and iteration.
• Build new services and features mainly in TypeScript, while maintaining and evolving existing Go services.
• Work with product managers, designers and mobile/web engineers to turn requirements into well-architected, maintainable systems.
• Drive operational excellence: monitoring, alerting, incident response and continuous improvement of reliability and performance.
• Mentor engineers, review designs and pull requests thoroughly, and contribute to backend standards and best practices.

Required profile

• 6+ years of backend engineering experience, with significant time on high-traffic, consumer-facing systems.
• Strong ownership mindset: you notice problems, propose solutions, communicate trade-offs clearly and hold a high bar in code and design reviews.

Required skills

• TypeScript (Node.js) for backend development; working proficiency in Go or quick ramp-up.
• Microservices: API design (REST/gRPC), service boundaries, versioning and inter-service communication.
• AWS (ECS/EKS, Lambda, SQS/SNS, CloudFront, RDS, ElastiCache or equivalents) and Kubernetes deployments.
• Databases and search: MySQL/PostgreSQL, OpenSearch/Elasticsearch, Redis, including indexing and query tuning.
• Event-driven architectures (Kafka, SQS or similar) and observability (metrics, structured logging, distributed tracing, SLOs, incident management).
• Nice to have: AI/LLM integration, edge computing, billing/subscription systems, identity platforms, geospatial data, and marketplace product experience.
