Senior Staff Nurse - OPD

About the role

The Senior Staff Nurse in the Out‑Patient Department (OPD) leads clinical operations, ensuring safe and efficient patient flow while complying with hospital policies. Working closely with the Patient Relations Supervisor and the Satellite Clinic Director, the role focuses on delivering age‑specific, patient‑centered care.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the clinical aspect of the clinic, coordinating patient care and ensuring smooth patient flow.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments using age‑specific techniques and continuously evaluate physical and psychological needs.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop, revise, and prioritize care plans.
• Document all relevant data in the medical record according to hospital standards.
• Maintain supplies, equipment, and a safe environment for patients and staff.
• Handle and administer narcotic, controlled, and semi‑controlled drugs safely and document according to policy.
• Ensure staff nurses meet Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA) mandatory education and competency requirements.
• Participate in unit meetings, committees, continuous quality improvement activities, and ongoing education.

Required profile

• Experience in managing clinical operations within an outpatient or satellite clinic setting.
• Familiarity with JCIA mandatory education topics such as fire safety, infection control, and emergency procedures.
• Ability to lead and support staff nurses in maintaining competencies and life‑support certifications.

Required skills

• Critical care assessment and planning.
• Safe handling and administration of narcotic/controlled drugs.
• Use of emergency department devices and pain‑management protocols.
