Senior Structural Assessment Engineer

About the role

Bainona Engineering Consultancy L.L.C., a Special Grade engineering consultancy founded in 1994, is looking for a highly experienced Senior Structural Engineer who specializes in assessing, evaluating and rehabilitating existing buildings, especially multi-story reinforced concrete structures. The engineer must be able to manage assessment assignments independently and prepare technically justified reports in line with applicable codes and Abu Dhabi authority requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out structural inspections, condition assessments and detailed surveys of existing buildings.
• Develop and review structural analysis models to check the adequacy and safety of existing structures.
• Evaluate defects, deterioration and material strength issues and set acceptance criteria.
• Prepare and review comprehensive assessment reports, calculations, conclusions and recommendations.
• Supervise and verify as-built surveys and drawings, and review third-party investigation and laboratory reports.
• Develop and review repair and strengthening proposals and coordinate with laboratories, contractors, clients and authorities.
• Provide technical support during repair and strengthening works.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master's preferred.
• At least 10 years of structural engineering experience, including 5 years in assessment of existing RC buildings.
• Proven experience in condition assessment, investigations, adequacy evaluations and rehabilitation of multi-storey buildings.
• Previous practical experience in Abu Dhabi, including familiarity with ADM/DMT requirements and submission procedures.
• Valid UAE driving licence.

Required skills

• Concrete core testing, NDT, reinforcement investigations and corrosion assessment.
• Good knowledge of ACI 318, ACI 562, ACI 214.4, the ACI 228 series and IEBC.
• Structural analysis and capacity assessment in ETABS, SAFE or equivalent software.
• Preferred: DMT engineering registration and a record of successful assessment submissions.
