Senior Telecommunications Engineer - Oil & Gas Projects

About the role

Worley, a global energy, chemicals and resources consulting, engineering, procurement and construction firm, is looking for an experienced Senior Telecommunications Engineer in Abu Dhabi to deliver detail engineering for oil and gas projects. The engineer designs, implements and maintains advanced telecommunication systems and equipment in large-scale projects, working closely with multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out studies, development and detailed design of telecommunication systems and subsystems, coordinating with other disciplines
• Develop discipline work plans and supervise telecom engineers, designers and technical staff
• Provide technical expertise on specification, design and selection of telecom systems
• Manage planning, budgeting, scheduling, resource planning and risk management, and control design changes within budget and schedule
• Prepare design deliverables, specifications, data sheets, coverage study reports, block diagrams, layouts and equipment lists, and liaise with the client engineering team for approvals
• Take part in site surveys, workshops (design review, risk review, value engineering, constructability) and proposal work including MH estimation
• Handle workshare with a remote office and represent the organisation's capabilities externally

Required profile

• Ability to lead a team of engineers and designers and act as discipline lead on a project
• Authority to make decisions, including budgetary responsibility, and to control budget, plan and deliver on schedule
• Experience handling workshare with a remote office

Required skills

• Telecom systems: FOC cable installation, SDH, OTN, DWDM, Gigabit Ethernet, HF/VHF/UHF, Tetra, spread spectrum, CCTV, access control, PA/GA systems, LAN/WAN, information and telephone/data systems
• Preparation of telecom specifications, data sheets, coverage studies, block diagrams, power consumption and heat dissipation calculations, cable schedules and tie-in lists
• Understanding of HSE requirements and compliance with international standards
