Senior UI/UX Designer - AI Products

About the role

Hyper Lychee Labs is hiring a UI/UX Designer for a high-visibility, AI-led product engagement with a marquee client in Abu Dhabi. This is not a production design seat: the team wants someone who interrogates the problem before designing, challenges assumptions with evidence and can defend design decisions to senior stakeholders. The role is onsite, full-time, on a 12-month contract, and open to candidates currently residing in the UAE with a valid residence visa.

Key responsibilities

• Frame ambiguous problems into clear user and business outcomes before proposing solutions.
• Lead discovery: user research, stakeholder interviews, journey mapping and synthesis into actionable insight.
• Design end-to-end experiences, from information architecture and flows to high-fidelity UI and interactive prototypes.
• Design for AI-native interactions such as conversational interfaces, copilots, agentic workflows, recommendations and generative outputs.
• Solve the UX problems AI introduces: trust, explainability, uncertainty, error states, human-in-the-loop controls and graceful failure.
• Build on, extend or establish a design system that scales across products and teams.
• Partner with the Product Owner and engineering on scope, trade-offs and sequencing.
• Present and defend design rationale to senior stakeholders and adapt when the evidence changes.

Required profile

• 5+ years in product design (UI/UX) for digital products, with a portfolio showing thinking, not just screens.
• Demonstrated critical thinking: pushing back on briefs or features when data does not support them.
• Strong command of interaction design, visual design, accessibility and responsive or multi-platform design.
• Hands-on experience with multiple design systems (e.g., Material, Carbon, Fluent or bespoke enterprise systems).
• Expert-level Figma, including components, variables, auto layout and prototyping.
• Comfortable in fast-paced, client-facing environments with senior audiences; excellent English communication.
• AI proficiency: at least one AI-powered experience shipped or substantially designed, and routine use of AI tools for research, ideation, copy, prototyping and testing.
• Ability to turn an idea into a working, clickable or coded prototype in hours.

Good to have: enterprise or regulated programme experience, prior work in the UAE or GCC, consulting or client-side delivery experience, data-heavy dashboard design, and Arabic with RTL interface design. Candidates should share a portfolio with at least two case studies showing how they framed problems and how AI shaped their work. Immediate to 30-day joiners are preferred.
