Senior Urban Designer

About the role

ERA-co, a global experience agency focused on shaping cities, neighbourhoods and destinations, is looking for a Senior Urban Designer to work closely with its leaders in Urban Strategy and Masterplanning. The role covers a range of master planning and urban design projects across multiple clients, contexts, timelines and time zones, in a startup environment where hands-on contribution is expected.

Key responsibilities

• Develop conceptual urban design frameworks and masterplans aligned with project objectives, site conditions and sustainability goals
• Manage masterplans through later stages, including Detailed Master Plan (DMP) development, working with the Project Leader or Principal
• Work with clients, stakeholders and internal teams to refine design concepts and coordinate sub-consultants
• Mentor and guide junior staff
• Support the generation of new client work and build business development relationships
• Present design concepts clearly to clients and stakeholders and foster consensus

Required profile

• 5-8+ years of post-graduate experience in urban design (or equivalent)
• Degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design or a related discipline; a postgraduate qualification in Urban Design is advantageous
• Experience developing large-scale masterplans across multiple stages, from vision to DMP
• Legal right to work in the UAE at the time of applying
• Strong interpersonal skills, time management, self-motivation and willingness to learn, including new tools and AI

Required skills

• Conceptual design, visualization and graphic skills
• Rhino and Grasshopper for complex forms and urban design solutions
• AutoCAD, Rhino, Grasshopper and GIS
• Adobe Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) for presentations and diagrams
• PowerPoint, Word and Excel
